• Putting the Care Together Symposium
  

  The Faith in Action National Network will present a pre-conference symposium on Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 9:00 am to Noon at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Austin, Texas.  The session will be titled "Putting the Care Together" and will include a panel of experts leading discussions on engaging congregations, working with local social service agencies, collaborating with geriatric care managers, and the role of parish nursing.  The session will begin with a reading from "Promise to Mary, a Story of Faith in Action" by Paul Jellinek, author and member of the National Network's Board of Directors.

  This Faith in Action Pre-conference will precede "Engaging Aging: Innovative Strategies for Health and Wholeness" hosted by the Texas Long Term Care Institute, Texas State University - San Marcos.  "Engaging Aging" will be held November 4-5, 2010, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Austin.  Click here to find out further information about the  "Engaging Aging" conference, or download a conference registration form here.

• "LOU GEHRIG and ALS: A Caregiver's Story"
  

  Attendees of the National Network's recent "Rays of Hope" conference in Orlando, FL, were fortunate to hear Mr. Ben Sullivan ("Sully") deliver a very moving presentation entitled  "Lou Gehrig and ALS: A Caregiver's Story."  Sully was the primary caregiver for his single mother, who was diagosed with ALS, through four years of his adolescence.  Response to Sully's presentation at "Rays of Hope" was so great that the National Network would like to share his story publicly.  Mr. Paul Jellinek, author of "Promise to Mary" and member of the Faith in Action National Network's Board of Directors, comments that, "It was a brilliant and profoundly moving presentation by an exceptionally talented young man."  To find out more about this presentation, visit Texas State University's website at www.txstate.edu or by clicking here.
